The 2010–2011 E550 is one of Mercedes-Benz’s best-kept secrets and is widely regarded as one of the finest modern sedans the brand has produced. These model years feature the rare and highly desirable 5.5L naturally aspirated V8, a powertrain offered for just two years (2010–2011). In later generations, this engine was replaced by a 4.6L twin-turbo V8, which introduced a long list of well-documented issues. By contrast, the 5.5L V8 in this generation is a proven, time-tested powerplant, with earlier shortcomings fully addressed, making it one of the most reliable V8s Mercedes has built in the modern era.
